SAN DIEGO (Friday, Jan. 3, 2025) – San Diego FC (SDFC) is proud to announce a partnership with San Diego Surf Soccer Club to deepen both Club’s commitment to youth development in San Diego County and to introduce Major League Soccer to the Surf community.

Established in 1977, San Diego Surf Soccer is an elite competitive youth soccer club, member of the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), and has been operating in San Diego County for 48 years and currently has 132 teams and 2,147 players. As of December 2024, Surf has won 19 National Championships, 100 State Championships, and is 3-time National Club of the Year.

“San Diego Surf Soccer is excited to partner with San Diego FC to expand the game we all love here in San Diego County,” said San Diego Surf Soccer Club COO Brian Enge. “There is a lot we can learn from each other, whether that is about the soccer landscape in San Diego or youth development. The Surf community looks forward to supporting the team in a packed Snapdragon Stadium all season!”

As SDFC kicks off its inaugural season in MLS in 2025, this partnership greatly benefits both Club’s long-standing passion for the game in San Diego County, which is widely known as a hotbed for players, fans and fan engagement.

“Because of its history of high-level youth development and the vast scope of its offering in the area, it is critical that SDFC works closely with San Diego Surf Soccer Club,” said Bill Miles, COO of SDFC and Executive Director of SDFC’s Right to Dream Academy. “We look forward to a long-term relationship with the Surf community that furthers our collective mission to raise the level of youth development in the area.”

SDFC’s objective is to support San Diego Surf Soccer with programming that enhances Surf’s strengths and provides increased opportunities for players and families to experience the game. SDFC and San Diego Surf will be in touch with their communities soon with more details about the partnership.

Both Clubs look forward to growing the game in San Diego and beyond. Please join SDFC in 2025 at Snapdragon Stadium to celebrate SDFC’s historical inaugural season! To check out SDFC’s 2025 schedule, please visit SanDiegoFC.com/schedule.
