SAN DIEGO (Friday, Jan. 3, 2025) – San Diego FC (SDFC) is proud to announce a partnership with Oceanside Breakers to deepen both Club’s commitment to youth development in San Diego County and to introduce Major League Soccer to the Oceanside Breakers community.

Oceanside Breakers is a 501 C3 nonprofit organization and a member of Cal South. The Oceanside Breakers are fast becoming a pace setter in player development and education in Southern California. The club is made up of highly dedicated individuals who possess tremendous soccer experience and are committed to developing youth. The goals and objectives for the Breakers are to provide education in the rules and skills of soccer, to develop good character and sportsmanship, to develop all-around athletic skills, to provide good wholesome competitive fun and to provide a venue for children to play soccer.

“Oceanside Breakers are excited to be partnering with San Diego football club,” said Oceanside Breakers Director of Coaching Frank Zimmerman. “We have known Mario Fernandez for years and this partnership with SDFC has been fun to develop. Watching them create what will become a standard bearer for excellence in player development here in the US has been impressive. Getting to contribute is humbling. We proudly are a self-proclaimed developmental club, and our #DevelomentMatters slogan speaks to that commitment! So the thought of a player from our club and community one day excepting a place in the Right to Dream Academy is something we look forward to celebrating!”

As SDFC kicks off its inaugural season in MLS in 2025, this partnership greatly benefits both Club’s long-standing passion for the game in San Diego County, which is widely known as a hotbed for players, fans and fan engagement.

“The Oceanside Breakers have established themselves as leaders in fostering a community-first approach,” said Bill Miles, COO of SDFC and Executive Director of SDFC’s Right to Dream Academy. “We’re excited to partner with the Breakers to continue providing opportunities for young athletes to experience the game while strengthening the soccer community in San Diego.”

SDFC’s objective is to support the Oceanside Breakers with programming that enhances the Breakers’ strengths and provides increased opportunities for players and families to experience the game. SDFC and Breakers will be in touch with their communities soon with more details about the partnership.

Both Clubs look forward to growing the game in San Diego and beyond. Please join SDFC in 2025 at Snapdragon Stadium to celebrate SDFC’s historical inaugural season! To check out SDFC’s 2025 schedule, please visit SanDiegoFC.com/schedule.
