SAN DIEGO (Friday, Jan. 3, 2025) – San Diego FC (SDFC) is proud to announce a partnership with City SC to deepen both Club’s commitment to youth development in San Diego County and to introduce Major League Soccer to the City SC community.
City SC is a 501c3 Non Profit organization that builds great players and great people. With soccer programming for players of all ages, levels and aspirations, there is a place for everyone in at City. City SC have both a plan and a pathway to guide each player to achieve their individual goals in soccer, however it is that they define success. City SC has been operating in San Diego County for 44 years and currently has 500 teams across three clubs in San Diego County in Carlsbad, San Marcos and Chula Vista.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with San Diego FC, a collaboration that represents an exciting step forward for City SC,” said City SC Executive Director Steve Cowell. “This partnership will provide unparalleled opportunities for coaching development, shared resources, and a stronger focus on player development. Most importantly, it creates a direct pathway for our players to engage with the professional game, inspiring them to reach their full potential. Together, we’re building a stronger soccer community in San Diego.”
As SDFC kicks off its inaugural season in MLS in 2025, this partnership greatly benefits both club’s long-standing passion for the game in San Diego County, which is widely known as a hotbed for players, fans and fan engagement.

SDFC’s objective is to support City SC with programming that enhances City’s strengths and provides increased opportunities for players and families to experience the game. SDFC and City SC will be in touch with their communities soon with more details about the partnership.
