San Diego FC announced today that it has loaned 17-year-old goalkeeper Duran Ferree, the first player signed in Club history, to Orange County SC for the 2024 USL Championship season.

“This is a very exciting time in my professional career,” said Ferree. “To be on loan with Orange County SC during the 2024 season not only allows me to train and play at a high level, it also places me in a league environment where I have familiarity and will allow me to flourish. The proximity to San Diego is an added bonus and I look forward to continuing to play in front of Southern California fans.”

The San Diego, CA native (4S Ranch) signed his first professional contract with San Diego Loyal SC on April 30, 2022 and spent the first two seasons of his professional career at the club. He made his professional debut on October 9, 2022 against New Mexico United, where he recorded two saves in a 3-3 draw. He appeared four times for San Diego in 2023, recording two clean sheets. He recorded a 1.64 Goals Allowed Average in six matches while with the Loyal. Ferree is also a member of the U.S. Under-17 Youth National Team having made five appearances and posting two clean sheets during 2023 World Cup qualifying and competition.

“We are excited for the opportunity for Duran to continue his professional development just up the road this year,” said Tom Penn, CEO, San Diego FC. “We will work closely with OCSC and monitor his development as we prepare for the 2025 season.”
