San Diego FC’s inaugural Woven Into One Plant Month, presented by Palomar, kicks off with the activation of several service projects that are aligned to the expressed needs of San Diego’s citizens. The events are designed to be regional in scope, but hyper-local in application to the needs of the specific communities where they take place.

April 22 | Earth Day Activation

presented by San Diego Gas and Electric

To celebrate Earth Day in 2025, club staff will partner with the San Diego River Park Foundation and San Diego Gas & Electric staff to enhance the new River Center at Grant Park followed by lunch & team building activities. The new River Center is an eco-park and educational facility situated on a 17-acre site in Mission Valley, at the intersection of Qualcomm Way and Camino del Rio North. We will be planting 300 native plants in the parkway along the sideway and street, creating a beautiful and biodiverse addition to the Mission Valley community.

April 24 | Arbor Day Service Project

presented by San Diego Community Power

In advance of Arbor Day, San Diego FC volunteers will conduct a pre-planting cleanup at Colina del Sol Park in City Heights, a dense urban community in central San Diego and is well-known for its ethnic diversity. The community is notable as a home to refugees and immigrants, with significant communities of Vietnamese, Somali, Cambodian, Laotian, and Latino residents. Activities include sprucing up the park, painting over graffiti, and preparing the site for the following day’s event.

April 25 | Arbor Day Tree Planting

Volunteer Event for SDFC fans, Supporters, and Season Ticket Members

To celebrate Arbor Day on April 25, 2025, San Diego FC will partner with the City of San Diego Urban Forestry department to enhance green spaces at Colina del Sol Park and the surrounding community. This event brings community members together to play a key role in tree planting efforts, including lifting trees, filling planting holes, spreading mulch, and watering to ensure their success, providing benefits that far outweigh the costs of planting and maintenance over their lifetimes.

Chollas Creek Clean Up

To kick off San Diego FC’s Sustainability Month, club volunteers partnered with the Harvey Family Foundation, the City of San Diego, and the Cesar Chavez Elementary School students & faculty to clear stormwater channels in the Southcrest neighborhood. The Community Creek Clean-Up Day brought together flood survivors, students, families, and local athletes for a day of environmental restoration, healing, and community pride. After the devastating 2024 floods that impacted both the school and surrounding neighborhoods, this event serves as a powerful example of community strength and collective care.
