- 18 Teams Qualify - the top nine from the Eastern Conference and the top nine from the Western Conference qualify.
- Round One Best-of-3 Series: Best of 3 Series from each conference. First team to two wins advances to the Semifinals.
- Conference Semifinals: One single elimination match, hosted by the higher seed. The Winner advances to the Conference Finals.
- Conference Finals: Single elimination match to claim the best of the Western Conference. Hosted by the higher seed.
- MLS Cup presented by Audi: Claim the winner of the MLS between the Eastern and Western Conferences. One Match – Hosted by the Higher Seed.
